NSTP Immersion: DAY2&3

DAY 2 (2-18-12)

S.J.M.!! :))

We spent the whole day with our foster family and it was fun. Me and my partner explored the village mountain with our classmates whenever we buy on the sari-sari store for drinks. Staying at the mountain was more refreshing rather than going back down to our dorm since it was hotter there. Unlike in the mountain, it was a bit windy there and it was so nice. Our foster family shared more of their stories to us regarding their livelihood there.

They even gave us cashew nuts and banana’s heart from their garden which tasted really good.

And then in the evening, we had our cultural show with them. So we conducted another set of parlor games for them and performances as well.

At some point, we were surprised when the Aeta girls danced to the tune of a modern song since we were expecting that they are going to perform a cultural dance. But anyway, they performed so well indeed.

After that, we had our bonfire and talked about our experiences with our foster families.
Overall, it was another fun night with my fellow classmates. ;D

DAY 3 (2-19-12)

In the morning, we went up to the mountain again for the last time to spend with the Aetas and enjoyed the view over there.

yep.i'm gonna miss this little girl so much ^^
We took that time to give thanks to them before we leave their area. Then after a couple of last minute picture-takings with them, we left their area already.

Overall, this immersion has been a fun adventure  Indeed, I learned a lot from the whole immersion activity. And if I were to comment about the life of the Aetas, I should say that they are very nice people to interact with. Even if they live in the mountain as natives living in huts and have farming as their job, they are still happy with their livelihood. And I find that very admiring for them. What only lacks them there is sanitation and hygiene for which they have to enhance because many kids live there and goes to the mountain back and forth in barefoot.
Thus, this marks my thoughts over the whole immersion trip.whatta experience! ;D

It’s been a great adventure upon going to Gala, Zambales.

It was my first time to go to that area that’s why I got astounded over the view. And I actually got more excited upon going to the immersion site like I’m finally seeing real Aetas here which I find interesting to interact with. Anyway, we met our foster family who is the Ulila family.

Their house is on phase 4 so we walked a long way up to the mountain to see their home. Indeed, it was so tiring going up in a rocky mountain over a hot weather.

Their house is made up of bamboo and has little electricity as well. And so, we had lunch with them.

Mrs. Ulila stays at home with her children and its own families. Her grandchildren were very adorable. We also get to interact with their neighbors’ kids whom we usually played with.

In the afternoon, we went back at the community hall and conducted parlor games for the Aeta kids. It was nice to see them play actively just like usual kids in the city as they aim to win a prize.

Then at night, we went up to the mountain again ti have dinner with our foster family. They taught us to cook rice through making fire from wood and stones.

Then after that, we somehow had a hard time going down from the mountain since it was very dark already. But thanks to the kids who escorted us. It was amazing that they can easily go up and down the mountain. Although I find it unsafe for them having said that they do lack of sanitation there.
It’s a good thing that we had a dorm to stay there. It’s just that we somehow had a hard time sleeping in the middle of the night due to the hot weather. But anyway, first day of immersion and it’s been so far, so good! :D

My teenage dream concert has come true again for the 2nd time around! :> And wow, she saved Manila as her last destination for her “California Dreams Tour” again?! HAHA. Saved the best crowd for last!! :) Like I’ve mentioned a week ago, I won a gold ticket and luckily, I get to swap it from a friend for a Titanium ticket. :) Though unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go on her M&G session at MOA last Saturday ;( but I’m still gonna buy myself a bottle of Purr. We took a sample of it before we went to the concert area and it smells so good :)

So there, moving on…
Dj Skeet Skeet was her front act for the concert and his remixes are amazing. Disco-disco pop songs! :D Then after that, we waited for like one and a half hour before the show started due to a technical problem (“ang dami kasing effects” ^^ ) Hence, it was worth the wait! Katy’s video intermission is so cute wherein she’s in the world of “Candyfornia”. And that speaks off her motif—candy, candy, candy along with cotton candy cloud screens and big cupcake stands. It was so cute and adorable :> Here’s her setlist:

I’ve been screaming since she was performing “Teenage Dream” because I was so thrilled to see her LIVE again! Ha! Her concert here 2 years ago (read it here) was actually one of the best—and so is THIS now! ;D Aside from that, KP is so sexy and hot in person! Totally fine, fresh, fierce.♥ She changes her costume for like every song and it’s so cute, I like it very much. Haha. She even kissed a guy from the crowd which is Ivan Dorschner .

And one thing that I really admire about her is her sense of humor---one of the reasons why I’m currently addicted to ‘Peacock’ again =))) As usual, she gave out stuffs for the crowd like KP coins from her ‘SLUT’ machine and bouncing balls. I kinda felt emotional when she was singing “Not Like The Movies”, I kind of felt that I could relate to that song all of a sudden ;l I was inspired to it as I remembered that when she performed that at the AMA’s last year, there were pics of her and Russel Brand on the screen. Awhh. And another of her dramatic performance was her stripped version of “The One That Got Away”. After that, her last four performances are my most faves—if it isn’t a medley of my favorite Katy Perry songs! :D and that wraps the show.
I know this is early to conclude but I gotta say, this has got to be the BEST CONCERT THIS YEAR EVER.♡
Though I wish for her to come back again soon---perhaps another 2 yrs in the waiting?haha! well, I’m sure she will! “It’s a THRILLA in MANILA” as she says! :)

i lived it up YOUNG AND FREE.this year has brought me up to a lot of new adventures.well,i guess that's what happens to a person who knows how to look back to her past and learns how to move forward.;))

10. SPIRITUALLY ACTIVE. It’s because of my school which encourages us to pray, pray, and pray (from attending masses to praying the rosary). Well these have been an addition to my devotions on Mama Mary and it’s been a happy feeling since then :) Prayer enlightens me up and takes my worries away. Other than that, this year has also been my first time to complete the 9 days of ‘simbang gabi’ :D I feel so blessed about it; what a fulfillment, indeed. ;)
9. ACCESSORIES GALORE. Collecting fashion rings, antique necklaces and ballers/bracelets have become part of my obsessive compulsiveness :)) And because of that, I’ve learned how to do online shopping! Hahaha. Though I only buy one if they accept meet-ups (shipping is expensive! HAHA). I also attend fairs at times where I can buy the rarest design of accessories that I would see. ;))
8. COUSIN-BONDING. As they say, “2011 has been the year of the youth”. From little angels to spoiled brats and teenage feelers…kayo na! taon niyo daw toh eh! Hahaha ;)) But anyway, this has been the year where I have spent time entertaining with my young girl cousins the most. It was quirky dealing with their imaginative and out-of-this world fantasies :)))
7. FRONTROW---TEAM UNSTOPPABLE! Having this microbusiness job has taught me a lot. I’ve learned here to become more of a PR person. :) And it was really fun whenever I go to the office---meeting new awesome friends/colleagues and money? haha! I’m proud of being part of the most powerful team in this company ;))
6. BORACAY MADNESS!(MAY 14-16) ‘cause that’s how we, Villegas people rock! :) **read it here:1,2,3
5. “MY LIFE AS A STUDENT NURSE”. I remembered way back in June, we were so excited to go on duty---but now? We kind of abhor the duty days then. Hahaha, kidding! :)) I’m quite proud to myself that I’ve reached the capping ceremony and become a student nurse. Parang kelan lang nung 2nd yr HS ako, I was thinking of what will it be if I work as a nurse in a hospital? And so, this is it! One of the greatest experiences that I’ve had this year. And this is what I like about my course---travelling and interacting with people. Busy nga at times, pero masaya. Though there are the times when I say that I really don’t want to continue this anymore because of so much pressure, I keep in mind that ‘there is always a reward after all these hardships’.feel free to read my rotation diaries here!
4. BLISSFUL TWENTY-EIGHT. “2 + 8=10; 8 – 2=6” hmmm? ;)) I was so happy to see this guy last Jan. 28 and Dec. 28. Yeah we had a lot of misunderstandings and such this year. But I’d say we’d just moved on, forget about it and just be glad that we’re still communicating ‘til now ;) ‘nuff said.*
3. PARTY-ROCK.I enjoyed attending the parties of my fellow debutants this year! :D drink. dance.sing. I had so much fun with the cliques and barkadas ;D
2. BEING PART OF THE BSN SOCIETY. I’m very glad to meet most of them during cheerdance practice. Finally, it was great to be part of the org and being part of the cheerdance squad, of course! This year’s nursing days was also good ^^ REAL LIFE HEROES—REAL LIFE CHAMPIONS. We’re living it up!

(120111): “So this marks our first night shift duty here at JJASGH’s nursery. I did had a lot of concerns for this rotation. One of which is what are we suppose to do in the area during the dawn other than monitoring the baby and such? And of course, the whole nightshift hours actually creeps me (I hate that feeling that I’m awake all day) ;o However, things were quite beyond my expectations as we went to the area. Well the first thing that we did was to fix the bassinet. Then suddenly, there was a mother who’s in labor that time and I was the first one to handle it. So as the baby was delivered, our CI taught us the immediate newborn care with my assistance. It’s hard not to panic about it as we were doing the whole method because it was so fast---yeah it really has to be rendered fast or else the baby would turn cyanotic. Though I try not to get nervour when I’m injecting and doing the rest of the newborn care. Overall, day 1 of this shift is a wake-up call for us to be alert at most times. DON’T PANIC!
I have 2 baby boy patients :)”

(120211): ”Tonight’s been the most hectic shift that we ever had since then. There were 10 mothers who were in labor tonight and most of them had given birth at the same time. Us, student nurses, and the rest of the staff nurses there are in full blow for the babies to come out. As they say, “walang babagal-bagal dito”. I still panic whenever I give the newborn care. But I think I improved better than last night as I have 2 baby girl patients this time. Haha :D
I’m happy to complete my cases tonight! ;D”

(120311) “I was lazy to go on duty tonight because of yesterday’s busy shift (gusto ko na nga mag-absent nun eh.lol). Even if I did spent the rest of the day sleeping, I still felt tired and I have no choice but to go on duty (no pain, no gain!). Happily, nobody’s in labor tonight so we went to the NICU to get our case. Mine’s about prematurity of a baby boy. After that, we just spent time waiting for our shift to end. :)”

(121011): It was our case study presentation night and it went fine. thank god it’s done :) We had our presentation literally at the labor room. Hahaha. I had one baby girl patient for the night.

And that ends our graveyard mania. THANK GOD THIS SHIFT IS OVER! And thankfully, it’s we only did it for 4 days for our group. Haha :)

(11-17 to 25-11) We’re back at Pugad Lawin HC, Marikina City! :) whether it’s consultation day or immunization day, we only get to take the VS and the records there. Thus, within 8 hrs of shift, we finished our work before lunch :)) It is a definitely a chill-chill rotation for us then. Haha!
Although we did do something else other than staying at the HC while eating spanish bread from the nearby bakery there (Hahah); we did a home visit for our community diagnosis. So we went to a town in Marikina and interviewed 50 families. And during our last duty day there, we conducted a Health Teaching about hypertension. We had a free BP taking session for the townspeople and gave them snacks afterwards. It was a very nice experience :) Hearing stories of people coming from different background was interesting.
Overall, this whole rotation has been fun. “sugod bahay” talaga---as in HOME visit :)) hahahah,BSN GROUP 2C&3B are the best! ;D

The opd Rotation

At Jose Abad General Hospital’s Out-Patient Department. And since it’s the area for check-ups and consultations rendered for FREE, we pretty much expected that we get to handle a lot of clients here (not to mention, the line for OPD patients there ENDS outside the entrance door of the hospital). It was fun as I learned a lot from it but it was a hassle when you have to call for the patient’s name and you can’t find them in. Hayy…mga pasaway na pasyente. It’s true that they exist.tsk! So each day, I got assigned on different OPD areas and here’s how it goes:

* SURGERY/ORTHO- The area that I liked the most :) the staff nurses and the doctors were so kind there, they let me do most of the procedures for the patients there. Haha, and what procedures are those? I get to take off a client’s suture (stitches or staples), wound care, and I once get to assist when the doctor had a removal of cyst operation. Of course it was all bloody and that—madugong madugo :)) As for ortho, I get to observe on how they put a cast on a client.

*PEDIA- At first, I really want to be assigned there (‘cause I want to become a pedia nurse). But things quite changed by the time I was assigned there and all we have to do is just call the patient and fix the charts T__T Well we get to assist at times, take its temperature, give them medicines if needed and that’s it. I was expecting more, though. Haha :)) Unfortunately, I didn’t got assigned there during “immunization day”.

*MEDICINE- It’s the area for adult patients (Pulmo/Gastric/Endo/Cardio/Neuro). Just like in Pedia, you just have to call for the patient and arrange their charts but then, there are times that you have to take the patient’s BP. Most of their BP’s there are unpredictable---some are low blood, some are high blood. Though what’s interesting there is when you listen to the doctor’s order for its patient, you’ll get to learn a lot from it. All patients go there with different complain. :)

*OB- Nothing much there; Mother’s go there for pre-natal check-ups. So it’s the usual fundic height and FHT checking only.

*ENT- There were 2 operations done when I got assigned there---removal of a bacteria on the ear and the other one is a removal of pus in a patient’s neck. About the operation on the patient’s neck, I honestly felt so disgusted about it. The pus was so big, it covered the patient’s neck and so when the doctor sliced the skin, the pus flooded out and it was very awful! I felt bad for the patient then, he was just a kid. At the end, we had a pus-filled basin.

*OPTHA- Nothing much as well…taga-patay lang ilaw para lng dun sa machine na ginagamit nung doctor. Amp?haha! :)) I just spent my time there, watching how much the patient can read the eye chart.

And so, that ends up our duty adventures for the 1st sem.

i was suppose to write something about my duty at the OPD lately pero nawalan ako ng gana kasi pinapunta na naman kami sa school kanina just to see our grades T_T thankfully,i passed.though,i should really do better next time :) so for now,i'm done with it.embrace me,sembreak,even for just a very short time.haha

it was my debut last Oct.5;I had dinner with my family at home and it was splendid---and it doesn't end there yet! :)

It's amazing that i had my debut celebration from Oct.5-8 :D We spent preparing my debut party on saturday last Oct 6&7 and it was a bit stressful.nakakabwiset talaga yung mga TS na tao.debut na nga lang aatenan,hindi pa mapagbigyan.i also hate it when some weren't able to come because of such stupid excuses.pero whatever.haha.

ANYWAY! Last Oct.8,me and my IZUNIA friends (Hanna,Tin,Rio& Iza; Ynah wasnt able to come :() checked-in at Rembrandt Hotel. It was great!ang gulo at ang kalat namin.hahaha :D This is what they were doing when i left them on the hotel:

my HS friends (Batch 2010).it was one of my wishes na sana ma-complete kami nung day na yun but unfortunately,it didnt happen.Hence,i wanna thank these people who came and truly made an effort to come.at some points,i do miss those highschool moments.haha ;))

my BSN family.i'm very happy that almost ALL of them came!i wanna thank them as well for being part of my debut :)i'm so grateful to meet them,my real sisters!haha :')

eating.dancing.and drinking.yeahp,that's what we did 'til 3am!haha.when me and my friends went back at the hotel,we were all slumped up to bed :)) we woke up at 8 the next day and left at 11am.

sigh,i wish to relive this day.again.and again.and again.haha

i'm proud to say that i DO got the BEST debut ever.thank you friends.thank you,my family(especially to my parents).and of course,thank you Lord.♥

i went to the AI10's M&G show at Trinoma last Sunday.Unfortunately,i wasn't really able to go to their concert 'cause i have cheering practice :l But anyway,i'm quite satisfied to meet 4 of the AI10 contestants there; I'm happy to see them up close and personal than being on patron A :)) So i met Pia Toscano, Stefano Langone, Naima Adedapo and James Durbin.I got their autographs signed on the AI poster that comes with the 'idol's EP album.I bought the one by Haley Reinhart since she's my favorite,her collection on the album was great especially "Rolling In The Deep" ♥ sigh,i could've gone to ATC as well if only that wasn't far enough!though it was all good, Pia's my other fave then.I get to talk to her in a little while when she was signing my poster.then i asked her if i could take a pic with her and she agreed but the pic was an epic fail--it was cut :(

HAHA, sino ba nagsabi na puro aral-aral ginagawa ko kaya sobrang busy??no I’m not. :)) yeah, there’s been the lecture days and stuff but it’s the afterclass practices that we have is what keeps me busy then. But if we don’t have practices, it’s merely the time that I get to out and explore. :)
Last 90611, me and my friend went over to Legarda to try the café called TEABUCKS. I got curious over the place since we always pass there everytime we go on duty. The ambiance was fine, green design and everything was cheap and affordable :)

Then yesterday (91011),i went over to the debut treat of my friend/blockmate,Myca at Promenade with Tin,Hanna,Lhai,Sophie,Sab,Bianca,and Aprille :D
We were at worldmusic room and it's been fun---singing,eating and drinking.hehe

At Jose Abad General Hospital’s OB WARD. We’ve been there for a month and it’s been an experience full of hectic and ‘petik’ days :))

8/18/11: as for starters…

“We only had a few patients at the ward today. Though as for the first day of our duty there in the area, we pretty much got oriented on what we will be doing for them in the coming days. As usual, vs, vs,VS…plus talking to the patient and finding out if there’s any problem to them. Like my patient’s baby got an abnormal finding on his mouth that’s why the mother can’t breastfeed him. Well, we helped them by teaching the mother feed her baby by using the breast pump. Other than that, we do charting and making a ‘Nurse’s Notes’. Kaya ayun, konti lang nanganak on that day kaya chill-chill lang muna :)) ”

8/25-26/11 to 9/2-3/11: LETS FACE THE REALITY, SHALL WE?

“ And as we open the door of the ward, it was like…boom! Like one bed has 2-3 mothers with their babies and you’ve got to monitor their VS (every 4 hrs or it could be 1 HOUR!). And not only we do VS, charting and the notes, but we also do the medications and some IV and catheter procedures (mostly for CS patients) now. So I guess I can see the action of my course :)) One time, I got 4 patients for the day---one of which has to be monitored every 15 MINUTES. It’s been the busiest day I’ve ever had :o But then, I enjoyed doing the procedures during those days especially the IV flush—medyo mahirap sa simula dahil sa syringe pero you’ll get used to it afterwards. :) I even get to remove a catheter before. All went good except for NCP (?) Hehe. So yeah, we talk to the patient everytime we monitor them. “kamusta naman po?may masakit po ba sainyo ngayon?” I asked and she replied, ”wala naman po”. I asked more questions, trying to assess them more for my NCP and unfortunately, the mother replies that she’s fine and all. So in my mind, I was like, “ohh ehh ba’t ka pa nasa ospital?amp!” JOKE! :))) Sabagay, mostly ‘for discharge’ na naman kasi yung mga patients dun since normal delivery sila kaya ganyan. They must have thinking as well that if they tell me that they still don’t feel well after the delivery, they might stay longer in the ward. Hahaha…we don’t do that =) “

9/8-9/11: MORE PROCEDURES

“I’m quite grateful to have very nice patients for these last two days at the ward. They were nice to talk with, I enjoyed hearing their family stories :) and since they’re for discharged in the morning, I won’t be doing anything again after 10am—nothing to chart, nothing to VS.hahaha =)) But I got assigned on a different task which is to have a report and I happily learned on how to change and regulate an IV fluid :D and for the last day, we took care of a very cute, chubby baby girl :>”

And that ends our OB ward mayhem for now :) NEXT WEEK: OPD!!

i only get to see her that near 'cause of the very large crowd(from 2nd-4th floor). She was there for the opening of her handbags&accessories shop at the 3rd floor of the mall.I haven't seen it yet though some of her fans were lucky enough to purchase one and get it autographed by Paris,herself.Tim Yap was also the one who escort her all throughout.Well,she looks like a Barbie in person;utterly stunning.haha ;D The show was just short since she also left the country last night.Either way,she said that she'd love to come back again soon^^

WHY WAS I NOT ABLE TO BLOG LATELY?

'cause i've been doing a lot lately.half-fun,half-stressed-out.that's what you get when you want to do everything.and specifically,what are those?

and ~~i want more.~~.Two weeks ago (July 28-29),we went back to the health center at Marikina for our duty.i get to do an IM injection to a patient :))Then now,we're on-duty to another hospital at Binondo. We will be there for 2 months.Last week was our midterm exams and i really wasn't prepared for it much.I was very busy hanging out with my balikbayan cousins like we went to alot of places.They hardly speak in english since they are Japanese but they were so fun to be with :) When they left,they gave us letters.

and i also gave them something in return(it's in fb).though,i felt guilty that i only get to spend time with them during the night because of my schedule :( But back to the midterms---there was even a time that i told my mom that "ayoko na mag-nursing..". :( kasi puro na lang aral;and it's getting most of my time!wala nang pahinga,amp..yeah i just said that 'cause i was pressured.the whole nursing thing was fun,but when it's studying--namputa,I HAVE A LIFE!i'm not a nursing book!Well.so much of that.

At Cardinal Santos Medical Center---our first hospital duty. :D Well, of course I didn’t took any pictures this time in the area (if ever I did then I’m not allowed to post it here either). We’ve had a lot of new experiences there despite that our work is quite limited; Yet, it’s been a challenge as usual. :)

72111: “HOSPITEL” =))

“On the first step of the hospital, we’re like “wow, eto na---private hospital na toh!”. Having a very different environment from the past 2 areas we’ve been dutying for, we were somehow nervous on how we’re going to handle these people now—from collaborating with the doctors to assisting with such luxurious patients. So moving on, we were assigned on the OB ward. For the first time, we did our special endorsement with the staff nurses and as a first approach, it was complicating. Imagine yourself standing at the while writing abbreviated orders which some you can’t understand and these are fastly dictated by the staff nurse. Although it was just a practice that we have to write everything up, we have an assigned room-in patient :) And since our work is very limited, we have to work with the staff nurses (thus whenever we visit a patient, we moreover just observe on how the nurse assess them). Though sometimes I get to help them take the patient’s VS, I find it intense sometimes for some reasons (and I must overcome that soon -__-). The whole observation was fine, a pedia patient even gave me this for being a ‘good nurse’ :)) :

and other than that, we also toured around the hospital area. Yes, it’s a hospital; but I’m pretty amazed with the environment as in…the patient’s room is even bigger than my room at home XD and for the rich & VIP patients, their room has a kitchen, living room and a bedroom. They’re really like in a hotel with a sick a person inside. My goodness! HAHA ;))”

7/22 & 28/11: NEW WORK.

“ It was our first encounter in working and analyzing with a patient’s record :) Reading the whole chart is like a story of why he/she was admitted in the hospital. But reading it is not as simple as THAT. ‘Cause usually, you got to adore a doctor’s handwriting---so artistic-in-script sometimes. hahaha :)) Well, so much of the work. Anyway, I get to observe inserting an IVF on a pedia patient. I felt sorry for the little girl ‘cause she has to get inserted with the IV twice (IVF was transferred from her left hand to her right hand).
Other than that, the food we eat at the hospital was heaven again :)) there are food stalls in the canteen, a 7-11 store outside and Seattle’s Best ;D one time, I drank Javakula as a wake-up doze. hahaha“

72911: STUDY MODE

“ We toured at the Endoscopy area there. My jaw went out of shock when they demonstrated to us how they worked there like entering their tools inside a patient’s body. Haha, parang namimitas lang sa loob ng katawan ng tao yung doctor during the operation. Yun nga lang, yari sya kapag mali ang napitas nya---GAME OVER.hahaha :)) then after the tour we didn’t really do a lot but some discussions with our CI’s”

Thus, that ends our hospital duty for now :) We’re gonna be back at HC this week…

At Pugad Lawin Health Center, Brgy. Fortune, Marikina City!

70711: WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY.

“I didn’t really expect that our duty place this time is…small. It’s a bungalow with certain medical areas and no wonder, they only accept limited patients for a day. Well anyway, it’s just one of the barangay health centers in the city. And it’s an OPD area (Out-Patient Department). Within 8 hours of shift, we started with a hassle and ended up in a laid back afternoon :) It was ‘consultation day’ in the HC and most patients had come by in the morning. I’m assigned for monitoring the patient’s records and it’s been an easy and laid-back task :))

I’ve also assisted in assessing the incoming patients. Most of them are kids, they were adorable. Hence, it was hard to pacify the little ones---the babies, perhaps. So once we’ve assessed all the patients for the day, we have our break. And mind you, we have a long break :) There are only 15 patients for a day and then we just have to assist them for now which took us 2 hrs on our shift. Hahaha :)) But there are also other people who comes to the HC just to check there BP’s and such. It’s a free service. In the afternoon, we somehow explored the area of Brgy. Fortune (or is it specifically Champaca? i’m not sure). We mostly ate pastries from the nearby bakery there and it was delicious. Their pink cookies and pan de coco is yum! :)”

70811: WE DIDN’T DO A LOT FOR THE DAY.

“ ‘Cause we had our orientation at Marikina Healthy City Center. Aww, I wished we could have our duty in the different BHC’s in the city for a different exposure. Pugad Lawin is actually far from the Bayan. Anyway, we had our lunch at McDo, Marikina Heights and then we went to the HC in the afternoon. There were no patients anymore that time since it’s “Immunization day” for the kids this time. Except for one kid who needs to get nebulized for his cough. Me and one of my classmate-friends, Tin assisted them. Like I said, it was hard to pacify the little kids especially when it comes in administering the meds. The mom even said, “oo,takot daw sya sa nurse” and in my mind, I’m like, “yes, I used to be like that. Much chaotic and hysterical than what the kid feels now”. LOL. :)) “

7/14 TO 15/11: ARTS&CRAFTS FOR DUTY.
“As for last Thursday, it was the usual work again. Records pa din. But I did take some of the patient’s vital signs and weight. Then the next day, all of us were busy for…ARTS. :)) We were tasked to change the design of the HC’s bulletin board. But before that, we get to observe some of the kids who’ll be getting their immunization for the day. Once everyone was done for it, we started re-decorating the board and it turned out like this...

Having duty/RLE was such a great adventure so far :) I used to be that person who has been thinking the ‘what if’s of encountering sick patients, medical and bloody stuff and now, here I am---a Student Nurse :) So there, let me share my entries from my LFD during our first duty rotation. I got to admit it, waking up at 3am during those times was very hard. Well…that’s how it always goes. However, it’s not really like that every time (though 7am could be our latest call time).ANYWAY..

062311: PRENATAL CHECK-UP ON A ROLL! :D

“ We had our first day of duty here at Shiprah Birthing Home at Taytay, Rizal. It got me excited when I heard about this since I really want to experience and witness a patient who’ll be giving birth. So I was assigned at the prenatal check-up area today and I did learn a lot from it. I learned how to measure the mother’s uterus and to check the baby’s FHT :> Happily, it went very well. And for the first challenge, I get to work with this American lady (one of the owners of the birthing home) a while ago. She let me translate everything that she says in tagalog so the patient would understand it. Yes, I did translate their whole conversation from English-Tagalog, Tagalog-English. Hahaha :))

Based on the patients that I’ve assisted, I was surprised that most of them are young pregnant women. There’s even this 19-yr old woman who’s about to give birth for her 3rd child! Either way, that’s life; Though they should be educated with family planning some day.

“Today’s RLE was so fun. I’m very happy that I get to be the ‘handle’ for one of the pregnant mothers who is in labor today. Seeing the baby coming out from the mother’s womb was triumphing, indeed. :’) I’ve been actually amazed to myself as I helped the midwife handles the baby and cut its umbilical cord from the mother (yes,I DID it ;D). I also get to pull the placenta from the mother’s womb. Then after that, I did the post-partum care for my patient. They were very kind people. They even gave us some pineapples as a token.

It’s nice that they have a baby girl for the second time.

Other than that, I also learned how to assess the infant. I felt overwhelmed as I get to carry the baby :”> It was so cute, I really like baby girls (and I would like to have one someday?HAHA). Then I got assigned to take the vital signs of the other patients. I do hope to be accurate in taking it in the long run

But overall, this has been the greatest experience so far.”

-> We didn’t really do anything on our last day there last week because there were no patients that day. Yet our stay there was fun. The midwives and their children were very kind and adorable there. That place really has a ’home’ atmosphere for all patients.

Yep,i've been watching movies during my free days :)'cause i really really need to have a break once in a while---it's been a very stressful week.I was unwell for 3 days last week.but then i can't afford to be absent for a day (especially when it's a duty day).So there,i still manage to go to school---i went to duty and it was fine.It actually went great 'cause that was the time when i was in charge in helping a pregnant woman give birth :> Ahh,so much of that.I'll tell more about it soon :))

Though for now,here.

There is a Harry Potter exhibit at Trinoma last June 26.I just came to pass by that area when we were suppose to watch Green Lantern that time :))

Then last Saturday,we watched Transformers:The Dark Moon.I'm not a big fan but i like Bumblebee and the rest of the effects.Happily, Robinsons' has this great promo last time of having free popcorn and drinks at the movies (in spite of having the very long line at the cinemas) :))

It was my parent's 18th anniversary last Saturday(6.11.11) and so,we dined-out at Somethin' Fishy at Eastwood City. I felt well that i get to drink again as well (for some reasons,haha) :))I got a bit drunk and on a bad point,i've became a spontaneous buyer;Like i spent P500 for a bunch of ballers and a shirt!So there.napagastos ako :)) is this part of ~~moving on~~?JOKE. ;)

Anyway,when we were strolling at Eastwood ULTRA,we saw this 4 polar dogs...

The owner was very generous to allow us to take a pic of them;i even get to have a pic with them!It's in my facebook profile :) Their breed is quite interesting,they seem to be quadruplets :))

6 THINGS THAT I’LL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THE START OF SY 2011

As a BSN college sophomore :>

1) Nurse Capping Day. It’ll happen in August and hopefully, I’ll be able to reach that point--- to get a nurse cap ;)

2) DUTY, DUTY! It’s the first shot of doing the real nurse work this time. And it’ll be either in the hospital or in the community. I’m excited----to wear the uniforms :)) hehehe. Yet I hope to do good on the work ;o

3) Sophomore’s Welcoming Party. Finally, we’ll be part of the nursing society ;D

4) Socialization. I hope to meet more new people and friends all along :)

5) NO MORE ALGEBRA :D and no more Filipino and English this time! Just simple computation perhaps. Yeah,right; Math will never be gone (‘cause Math is the language of all Sciences). Bullshit.

6) More ‘commuting journeys’, with my friends whenever we have the time during this sem.

well,i really didn't watched the whole season this time 'cause it really got me out of my interest anymore.As in,this show has been a flop since season 8;eversince they got some new twists and judges on the show.Hence,it somehow still has a big impact on the audience (even if they did voted to the ones who are least expected to win).Here are my most favorite contestants over the past seasons:

MY IDOLS.Kelly Clarkson's songs are truly the best .i can always relate to her music for some reasons,haha. :) and as for Carrie Underwood,she actually made me like country pop.imo,SHE IS BETTER THAN TAYLOR SWIFT.and btw,season 4 is one of the best AI seasons :)

both davids are adorable. Their finale match-up is one of the best next to season 4 :) I like Archuleta more because of his songs (whether it's ballad or pop).and yes,i like DCook for his handsome looks and some of his rock songs.In fact,i do love his current single now entitled,"The Last Goodbye" :>

BORACAY TRIP (DAY 3)

Unfortunately,it's the last day and it's been short,actually.very.

It even went raining a bit that's why it ended up having a rainbow (madalas daw may ganun sa lugar na yun) :))

We did a last tour around the island and then by 10am,we left the shore.

and before we left the area in Kalibo,we bought some delicasies.Their Calamay Rice Cake is a must-try!! :)

Then by 3pm....i'm back in MNL.it's actually hotter here than in Boracay,you know.singaw pa lang,ang init na. tsk! Thus,that ends my Bora trip.
i hope for more trips to come :l

BORACAY TRIP (DAY 2)

SWIMMING ALL DAY. plus,we've gone island-hopping.

there's more HERE. although,we all felt terrified over the big waves during the tour.but at the end,we went snorkeling in the middle of the sea.It was a very nice scene underwater,so surreal :))

After the tour,we ate lunch at D'Talipapa.Then in the afternoon,i got my henna tattoo :)

"kung pwede nga lang sana,J tas puro (*) eh.hahaha!" :>

Then we went over to D'Mall at station 1.It's actually more of the commercial side of the island.for some reasons like...

there is already a starbucks in Boracay.

and an All Flip Flops Shop.

we even met this piggy-dog along the way :o the owner says that its parents are a dog and a pig.and i'm like "napaka-barbero naman nun,baboy at aso nagmate??nampucha yan!" =))

Then at night,it's another usual dinner buffet.

Boracay Trip (Day 1)

My first trip to Boracay was way back 2004 when i was 10 years old.and after 7 years...

i'm back to this damn island again.HAHA! :))

(051411).Me and the whole family arrived at Kalibo,Aklan then had a 90+ minute bus trip from Kalibo to Caticlan and finally,a boat ride towards Boracay island :)

We stayed at La Carmela de Boracay which was owned by Boy Abunda.

First impression is that,it already has a nice ambiance.The receptionists even gave us some welcoming drinks :))

It was already around 5pm that time when we had settled-in there so for the day,we did some sightseeing over the beach.

yeahp,SIGHT-SEEING ;p

and then,we had a buffet dinner by the beach.here's some mongolian noodles,blue margarita and a shot of zero balance (god knows what i did on this drink,lol)

Since we're staying at station 2,me,my mom and my aunt walked over to station 3 and saw these awesome fire dancers.Actually,they are gays and i even get to take a pic with one of them.

We even argued about its gender if that bear's either a boy or a girl,haha :))Then there came Haf,the big purple bear :)He gave it to me on my 16th birthday and it was one of the best gifts i've ever received.well,we had some pics together with me,jeremy,and the bears on my multiply site.

this bear always comforts me when i have those rough times.♥

i bring Casey during my travels at times.hehe :))like Haf,that bear never fails me to smile and comforts me.♥

We had our return-demo during our Health Assessment class about serving a balanced diet meal to a patient. Our group was assigned to prepare a balanced-diet meal for dinner and here's what we served...

**menu: chopsuey,mixed fruits(papaya,watermelon and pineapple) and mango juice

and gladly, we got a good grade from it :) Besides that, i also got a good grade from my midterms so far.it was very surprising actually.because i've been very sluggish and lazy during the whole midterm week.It's been a rush,rather.and i've always been chasing time to do the rest of my activities then.Thankfully i still managed to get that high.prayers work,HE's always with you. :')

what a wonderful ZICKS day. Me and my blockmates had a trip for our Physics class at Enchanted Kingdom.It's been 5 years since i've last went there.i didn't get to ride all because of my low tolerance in speed.Yet it was all fun taking pics and exploring the perks of the whole theme park again.Of course, who wouldn't ride the carousel?haha.I faced my fears in riding the 'Anchors' Away' again---if it isn't my favorite ride :)) And riding the Log Jam and Rio Grande was worth a splash!yea,you'll really get wet from it.
but the funnest of all is the "Wheel Of Fate" aka the ferris wheel.That feeling on top was the best ♥

how i wish i could ride it again someday :)

We arrived home at night.It was worth a trip,ang saya kasama ng BSN blockmates ko <3

As usual, me and my family had gone for a Bisita Iglesia in observance for the Lenten season (in particular that it is,Good Friday).We went to 4 different churches and did the stations of the cross.

We went first to Our Lady Of Antipolo at Antipolo,City.It was such a very long ride,thankfully there was no signs of traffic at that point of time. It was also my first time to go there, my mom even took a picture of me with the sacred image of it(which is in my facebook :)). After praying there, we bought some of their delicasies outside the church.

we bought suman,kasoy,kalamay and coco jam :)

After that, we went to Our Lady of The Abandoned at Kalumpang,Marikina City.I'm happy that i finally get to pray there ('cause I always wanted to):> Perhaps, it'll definitely not be my last time to go there.haha :)) And along our ride, we watched a bit of Senakulo towards Brgy. San Roque. We could've watched the whole thing though, but it was crowded...

Moving on, we went to Sta. Clara Church and ended our route at Christ The King Church.We also get to visit the wake of Aj Perez there. Such a handsome guy :( He'll truly be an angel in heaven now..~

so there!it was a nice lent after all.more rest,more leisure,more peace of mind.

how summer class began.

It’s been a week since summer class has started for me. The ‘busy-ness’ is definitely back again. We only have 3 subjects though we have a toxic schedule in it (as usual, 6 days of classes). Especially on my major subject which kept me senile lately. =.= Every M&T, I go to school via train and I always go on a rush to reach that 7am class. Well so far, I rarely made it on time because of my slowness and such (even a cup of coffee couldn’t keep me wide awake anymore). So there, we started that early for our major subject for this sem which is N02. It takes a lot of note-taking; I already consumed half of my filler pages for it. Then in the afternoon, we have our N02-lab class. Recently, we had our ret-demo about how to position the clients and checking up the vital signs :) It went fine for a first approach. Perhaps it takes more practice for me to master it. Either way, I was thrilled when I learned it, especially the NCP. Pero sa totoo lang, mahirap talaga. It definitely takes a lot of perseverance and patience. :)) I didn’t possess any of those before but gladly, I get to develop those traits now :) Moving on, I always get to arrive at home in the evening with my parents. I really have so little time for the rest of my activities and leisure and that’s why I sleep late even the fact that I need to wake up early on the next day. And there goes my routine. Tiring but will be rewarding at the end, I guess?

But anyway, that just goes every Mondays and Tuesdays. I’m pretty much free on the other days though, we’re not always bound to study mode ^^ Me and my friends even get to go to Greenhills last time and went shopping for clothes. Then the day after that, we implemented a ‘shirt-coding’ for the day. It’s always been fun with my BSN girls. :)
There goes my summer class so far. Two more weeks and it’ll be the real summer vacation for me. Actually, I’m still aiming for productivity that’s why I was thinking of attending to some workshops or looking for a part-time job lately. Though if not, then we’ll see what happens next :)

I received my class cards last Friday (4.01.11) and it was fine. I got the same grades for all my subjects except for NCM which is my lowest ;( but I pass our cut-off grade (83) anyway. I’ll just do better next time. There’s no turning back :)) Haha! So there, I’ll be going to summer class next week for 3 subjects. We’ll see what happens and if I didn’t do well at it---but then, I’m not really serious about shifting. I like BSN! My 2-weeks’ vacation was pretty much of a laid-back. Was it productive? NO, it didn’t. It was more of a relaxation week instead. Here’s my MAJOR SIX ACTIVITIES LATELY. (That excludes shopping btw ;p

1) TWITTER- I realized that I make 100+ tweets in just 1 week! Well I guess that’s how I use it a lot more than I use Facebook...I’m quite addicted to twitter more :) I like the random posts that people creates there. And as for my Facebook? I still use it but at some points, I feel like deleting my account there someday. It’s so gay :))

2) WEB-DESIGN- I’d like to enhance my graphic skills once in a while that’s why I decided to create another blogging account. The latest graphic I made is this: FEEL FREE TO USE :)

3) BNO- aka Boys Night Out from Magic 89.9 ;D. It makes me happy and well-entertained whenever I listen to their show on the radio. Nakakalibang pakinggan yung mga kalokohan nila :)) and I adore listening to their segment called “Confession Sessions” or “Radio Tabloid” where they tell green, radio-worthy stories and the Djs re-enact the dialogs from it. It’s hilarious especially when you watch it through UStream :)) (listen to BNO on magic 89.9 every mon-thurs. from 6-9pm)

4) WRITING- ‘writing if boredom persists’. I’m currently writing a fic entitled “Twisted Faith”. I’ll be posting the 1st part this week as soon as I finish typing it and I’m about to write the 2nd part after that. And before anyone else reads it, let me just say a few words: sorry for the bad grammar. -_-

5) WATCHING- reality shows and classic cartoon commercials on Youtube. Classic TV’s absolutely the best, their jingles and dialogues pwn. ♥ ya might wanna watch some of these perhaps:[X] [X]

6) WITH FAMILY :) – like last Friday, we dined-in at Yakimix, Trinoma to have a Japanese, Korean and Cantonese buffet. The waiting line took us for 1 and a half hours of wait before we get to settle in at the restaurant. But it was worth the wait though! Here’s what I ate:

sushi.sesame beef.mousse cake.scones.cookies&cream flavored ice cream.YUM
and then yesterday(apr.2,2011), we dined-in at Contis' Katipunan Branch and i tried their Baked Prawns there with japanese fried rice and it's delicious! :D i guess i'm pretty much happy with the food i'm eating lately.hehe,nalilibang sa pagkain. :))

courtesy of my mother's trip in Australia and from the people who's been giving us these treats since Valentine's Day.Yes,we've been receiving chocolates since then and until now,we haven't finish them all yet!Having said that,i'm quite delighted about it :) They say that "eating chocolates make a person happy and takes away its depression for a while". and i guess that's what i needed the most at times,haha :) anyway,here they are:

Yigit won as the first winner of "Top Chef Just Desserts". I didn't expect that though among the final 3 pastry
chefs, I thought Morgan's gonna win it or even Danielle as my favorite contestant. Anyway,this is his winning pastry...

This is why I loved each and every episode of this show. The desserts are astounding and very impressive. :) It's
definitely a must-watch for those who have a sweet tooth.
Ergo, i must watch the next season of this soon. ;D

college freshman?DONE!

HELLO 2-WEEKS VACATION. ~

I’m done with finals and I’m done with my college freshman year! It seems fast isn’t it? :D The next time I’ll know is that I’ll be on duty by the time we have our nurse-capping day. Haha! The whole finals’ week was a cram; Like last Thursday, we took 6 exams from 7:30-4pm and we only had a 25-minutes break! Well, come what may na lang sa class cards =.= ‘Cause during those times, I felt like I almost have no life at all. I’m always stuck reading hand-outs and powerpoints ‘til midnight and I find myself sluggish by the time I wake up early in the morning. So there, even if I had a lot of exams last Thursday, I decided to watch a play in school last Wednesday (3.16.11) with my friend to unwind myself up. The play’s entitled, “Bayan-Bayanan” by Bienvenido Noriega Jr.; It was awesome. :)
I’ve been having a good time, recently. Or maybe I’m jumping to conclusions so quickly again :l but either way, we’ll just keep it this like this for now---thou shall not expect. Well what was I talking about anyway? I’d rather not say. :) Anyway, my goal for this summer is to have a productive vacation although I have a 1-month summer class starting next month. It’s a required summer class, not the fact that I failed a subject T_T Though in short: I want it half-busy + half-leisure= PRODUCTIVITY (time for everything) ;D
